The first Manager and Founder Principal of Carmel College, Sr. Aurea has always been hailed for her committed social services, in particular, her immense contributions to the field of education. She began her career as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics and had worked in reputed colleges like St. Marys’ College, Thrissur and Vimala College, Thrissur. She had also served in the position as a Senate Committee member in the University of Calicut.
It has been her farsightedness and earnest endeavors to realize her vision for empowering the rural women through education that materialized in the establishment of Carmel College in Mala. Choosing to start a college in a then small, under-developed place like Mala, fighting all odds, was her unique and inspiring way to spread the beacon of ‘light and love’. She saw an enhanced possibility of grooming an empowered society through the education of its womenfolk. Carmel College stands in its present glory as an institution with the potential to nurture generations of able and committed individuals because of the stepping stone laid by her Founder.
