The Government of Kerala had launched the Scholar Support Programme (SSP) in the Government Arts & Science Colleges during 2012-13. It was extended to 27 Aided Arts & Science Colleges during 2013-14. The Programme is being given to all the Aided Arts & Science Colleges in 2014-15.
The Scholar Support Programme aims at imparting personalized additional support to needy students through tutorials, study materials, additional lectures, question banks, interactive sessions, formation of quality circles in colleges for the Programme, dissemination of classes through personal and web based modes and the like. The Directorate of Collegiate Education oversees the implementation of the Programme and funds are allotted to colleges to effectually conduct the Programme for 50 selected students of the institution. The Programme for 2018-19 is to be completed by 31 st March 2019 as per the guidelines issued in this regard.
The institution ensures that students are made aware of the Programme and the applications invited from them undergoes a transparent and fair selection process. The candidates selected for SSP are from the first year of the Under Graduate Programme. Students who have less than 60% aggregate marks in the qualifying examination and who need additional support in identified subjects alone are included in the Programme.
The Programme is co-ordinated by a faculty from the institution who ensure the timely conduction of classes and other special provisions arranged for students. The College Council also monitors and evaluate the progress and benefit in implementing the Programme.
